Unwrapping the world of Wonka. Everything we know so far about the upcoming prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The highly anticipated live-action prequel to Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka, will take us on a journey into an elevated reality and back in time to reveal the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today. And while the film will focus on a never-before-seen period in Willy Wonka's history and provide an origin story of sorts, much still remains a mystery.

What we do know is the cast is an ensemble of incredible talent. Timothée Chalamet will be playing the young Willy Wonka, alongside stars like Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Davis, Hugh Grant, Simon Farnaby, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Mathew Baynton, Jim Carter, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, and Rich Fulcher.

We also know that Wonka will be a delightful movie musical, promising a total of seven outstanding musical numbers, adding a unique dimension to the captivating tale. In an exclusive interview with TIME, Timothée Chalamet shared his experience of recording songs at the iconic Abbey Road studios, building up our anticipation for the musical numbers.
