An Opening Worthy Of A God. Thor: Love And Thunder Delivers Biggest Opening Weekend For A Film This Year.
The fourth film in the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder, has delivered the biggest opening for any film this year, with over one million admissions since opening last Wednesday, and over $20 million in the Aussie box office.
The film’s weekend opening was 55% bigger at the box office than 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, even excluding its opening day figures from Wednesday.
Thor: Love and Thunder has so far attracted a predominantly young audience with 60% falling within the P14-39 demographic, reinforcing the notion that cinema is never short of big blockbuster titles that attract the hard-to-reach youth audiences.
Thor’s fourth solo story as Marvel’s god of thunder is said to be the most hilarious and heart-warming yet and continues to follow Thor’s long journey of self-actualisation. Thor: Love and Thunder has ticked all the boxes. It is no surprise audiences have been flocking in to be met with this captivating mix of comedy, epic action and love.
