The ghost with the most returns after 36-year hiatus in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

The 'Geuse is officially on the loose in the latest trailer for the long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. After 36 years, the sequel to Tim Burton's iconic 1988 spooky film finally graces the screen, much to the excitement of fans who have been eagerly awaiting this moment. Michael Keaton reprises his role as the grubby and goofy ghoul, Betelgeuse, welcoming audiences back to the land of the living for a new chaotic adventure. Catherine O'Hara and Winona Ryder step back into their roles as Delia and Lydia, while rising Wednesday star, Jenna Ortega joins the family as Lydia's daughter Astrid.

After the release of the first official trailer, Michael Keaton spoke with Entertainment Tonight about making his highly anticipated return, "It took a while to get there," he said. "I didn't really think we were gonna do it and didn't want to do it, various times [in the] last few years, but it was more fun than the other one."

According to director Tim Burton, Keaton didn't want to make a Beetlejuice sequel without an "emotional hook," and the new film certainly has one in the intergenerational dynamic between Delia Deetz, her daughter Lydia Deetz, and her granddaughter, Astrid Deetz. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sees three generations of the Deetz family united in Winter River once again following a tragedy. After nearly becoming the bride of the bio-exorcist extraordinaire three decades ago, Lydia is still haunted by the memories of Betelgeuse. Her worst fears become reality when her rebellious daughter, ever the curious type, finds a small-scale replica of the town and accidentally rips open a portal to the Afterlife that paves the way for the miscreant to return.

The anticipation for this sequel is palpable, driven by the long gap since the original and the return of fan-favourite characters. Fans of the original film are thrilled to see Keaton, O'Hara, and Ryder back in their iconic roles, while newcomers like Jenna Ortega add a fresh and exciting element to the story. The blend of nostalgia and novelty is set to create a perfect storm of hilarity and horror. As the Deetz family grapples with the chaos Betelgeuse brings, viewers can expect a thrilling ride full of quirky humour, eerie moments, and heartwarming connections. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is poised to be a worthy successor to the original classic, delivering a fun-filled and spooky cinematic experience that fans have been craving for decades.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is soon to be set loose in cinemas on September 5.
