Introducing Australia’s Latest Cinema: Village Cinemas M-City.

Village Cinemas have opened Australia’s newest and most-connected cinema complex this month, with the launch of Village M-City. Located at Clayton’s evolving retail and entertainment precinct, the new cinema is positioned in a bustling corridor of Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs and appeals to a broad mix of demographics, with a large focus on its proximity to Monash University.

M-City will feature an exciting and unique film program, including an eclectic mix of blockbusters, indie films, anime films, international cinema and specially curated cult classics.

Our resident movie buff and Melbourne local Curt headed down to M-City this week to check out the brand-new setup! Here’s his review:

Upon arriving at the brand new complex, I noticed how fresh and clean everything feels. Being a newly-built shopping centre, there is a sense of curiosity and intrigue amongst people visiting for (most-likely) the first time.

To enter into the cinemas, you’ll walk through an archway that leads to Roc’s Social, a brand new, standalone bar concept that incorporates globally inspired menus, specially selected craft beer and the opportunity to socialise and have a bit of fun. Roc’s Social does week-nightly food & drink specials, including happy hour from 5-6pm Monday-Friday. When I happened to visit, it was ‘Burger & Beer’ night which included a delicious burger with a pot of my choice for $15!

After dinner, head upstairs to the cinemas where the candy bar awaits! The best part of this candy bar? You can order items from the Village Cinemas app and have them delivered straight to you during the movie, or be placed in a food ‘locker’ for collection at a time that’s convenient for you. The addition of a flavoured Coca-Cola fountain was the ‘cherry’ on top of my Coke No Sugar (pardon the pun). Pick whatever flavour you want to add to your fountain drink and away you go!

Entering through the hallway past the candy bar, the cinema boasts six state-of-the-art screens equipped with laser projectors and luxurious Vpremium seating in every auditorium. Each coupled seat has access to an aisle, with a shared table for food & drink.

Complimenting the crystal-clear picture quality, I was amazed by the … sound in this cinema! I watched Angelina Jolie’s latest survival-thriller, Those Who Wish Me Dead, and there were times that I felt like I was actually in the forest, outrunning the bad guys with her!

Village’s commitment to opening a brand new cinema complex goes to show the faith that they have in Australians returning to the cinema for generations to come. After my first taste of this amazing, premium cinema experience, I certainly plan to return again and again.
