POPSUGAR Australia partners with Modibodi and Share the Dignity to help end period poverty

In partnership with leak-proof apparel brand Modibodi and Australian charity Share the Dignity, Val Morgan Digital’s POPSUGAR Australia has launched a new content series: Uninhibited.

Uninhibited is POPSUGAR Australia’s latest immersive custom-built content hub discussing period-related topics. From PMS to sustainability, post-partum periods, and first-person period diaries, Uninhibited is a space where anyone with a period can come for advice, recommendations and support.

Uninhibited will also importantly help to raise awareness around period poverty, with the aim to ignite change and drive donations to Share the Dignity, POPSUGAR Australia’s charity partner.

“Eradicating period poverty will require a multi-pronged approach. Access to sanitary items is an obvious one, but we must remove the shame and stigma around menstruation, and this will only be achieved through the education of boys, girls, women, and men," said Founder of Share the Dignity, Rochelle Courtenay.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with POPSUGAR Australia, a leader in opening these important conversations around period health. Together we are determined to fulfil our goal of removing the shame and stigma around menstruation."

Share the Dignity works to end period poverty and make a real difference by partnering with over 3,000 charities nationally, helping them to assist women, girls and those who menstruate, and desperately need access to period products. This is achieved through Dignity Drives and Dignity Vending Machines and its annual It’s in the Bag campaign, which encourages Australians to put together bags filled with essential items, to donate to someone in need at Christmas.

Due to COVID-19, donations to Share the Dignity have decreased. POPSUGAR Australia is donating $50,000 worth of advertising to the charity and added a donation widget on site to help drive donations and encourage its highly engaged audience to sponsor a bag of essential items in support of its #ItsInTheBag campaign. To further support the charity, Uninhibited will also be amplified across the Val Morgan Outdoor (VMO) advertising network.

“In partnership with POPSUGAR Australia we can promote real, honest, open conversations about health issues and periods to help reduce body shame and stigma,” added CEO and Founder of Modibodi, Kristy Chong.

“Our vision is to have ‘limitless positive impact' on humanity and our planet. We do this by using our voice and brand to celebrate diversity and inclusivity, promote self-acceptance and open conversations around our bodies and bodily leaks, and at times challenge unjust cultural or social norms in the name of equality.”

“We support education programs which promote real, honest, open conversations about health issues, including periods and incontinence to help reduce body shame and stigma. Our Give a Pair Program helps those in need gain access to sustainable menstruation products. In 2021 alone, Modibodi will donate 100,000 pairs of leak-proof underwear. Our customers can also contribute by topping up their cart with a small amount at the online checkout, or via our Give a Pair page. Every dollar donated through our Give a Pair program goes towards putting a bundle pack of five pairs of reusable, leak-proof products into the hands of people in need–worldwide.”

Valentina Todoroska, Managing Editor of POPSUGAR Australia said, “POPSUGAR Uninhibited is an opportunity for us to create the content we wish we had growing up as well as the content that is still missing today. Our aim was to ensure the topics we cover are inclusive and relevant to anyone and everyone who experiences a period.”

“Our audience comes to us as a trusted space where they are encouraged to explore everything they're curious about and I'm proud to be bringing them this partnership with Modibodi and Share the Dignity that will break new ground in the space of period health.”
