Eagle-eyed fans spot iconic NBA play in new Space Jam 2 trailer

Twitter and Instagram lit up this week when basketball fans across the globe spotted a cheeky nod to LeBron James’ former Miami Heat teammate, Dwyane Wade, in the new Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer.

The clip pays homage to one of James and Wade’s most memorable on-court moments. In the trailer, we see Lola Bunny who is voiced by Zendaya, pass the ball to James before spreading her arms à la Wade and winking at the camera.

The tribute was celebrated on Miami Heat’s official Instagram and shared by Wade who called the scene “iconic!”.

James stars in the remake of the 1996 classic film. Much like the original Space Jam starring Michael Jordan, LeBron and the Tune Squad take on the super-powered Goon Squad in an action-packed, cameo-filled battle on the basketball court.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is scheduled for release in Australia on July 15.
