Faces of Val: Account Manager, Bethany Shell.
Alright, spill the tea: How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at Val Morgan Cinema so far?
Whilst I did study business and communications, it was one of those friend of a friend of a friend situations where my resume got sent through to someone who didn’t even know me!
The best part is the people. I have the most amazing team both within my office and nationally. One of my biggest highlights at Val Morgan Cinema was our conference last year where we had the opportunity to meet some of the other faces from across the states in person, and we all had a ball! I'm very lucky to work with such driven, inspiring and amazing people.
If your career were a movie, which three movie titles would best capture its essence, and why did you choose them?
The Social Network - This is the essence of being a rep… it’s all about building your network and socialising to keep good relationships with clients. I love it.
Avatar - Because I’m #1 of all time (and incredibly sarcastic if you couldn’t already tell).
Little Miss Sunshine - Keeping to the title here… I love to be a bit of an optimist and bring a bit of light where I can into a meeting or the office. Whether it’s with my outrageous laugh, awful jokes or a chatting away about life, I like to keep bring the vibes to the team and keep the sun shining at Val!
Your ideal work lunch: cooking up a five-course meal in the office microwave or embarking on a quest to find the best sanga in town?
I love to cook, and I could meal prep the most gourmet lunches in the world for every day of the week but somehow, I still twist my own arm into needing to have a crispy chicken wrap from Lamanna or making everyone come to the pub on a Friday!
In the superhero league of workplace skills, would you be Captain Coffee Break, Master Multitasker, or the Enigmatic Efficiency Enforcer? Share your superpower origin story.
My coined nickname in the office is Beth the Barometer, which in a nutshell means I’m the social pariah and rally everyone up and about.
Midday recharge: Would you prefer a power nap in a cozy office hammock or a brisk stroll to explore the best local lunch spots? How does your ideal lunch break reflect your approach to work-life balance?
You would think our jobs are social enough as it is, but I will spend every lunch break chatting in the kitchen to everyone and never running out of things to say.
If your Teams background had a mind of its own, what whimsical scene or surreal landscape would it choose during your next virtual meeting?
Probably on a tropical island by the pool with a swim up bar (like most of my holidays).
