Black Adam has taken the world by storm, having won the title of the number one film in the world right now, and having just recently exceeded $250 million at the global box office. The film has also delivered almost 700,000 admits in Australia within its first two weeks.

Reviews of the action-packed blockbuster have been overwhelmingly positive, with many claiming the film to be a “game-changer” in the DC Extended Universe.

With an astounding 90%, the film has also received the highest audience score on Rotten Tomatoes of any DC film released in cinemas since The Dark Knight Trilogy.

I was very surprised when I first saw that Dwayne Johnson was making his debut into the DC universe as Black Adam. However, after watching the film over the weekend and seeing the 90%+ audience score on Rotten Tomatoes I was blown away.

Black Adam isn’t your typical superhero - he is more of an anti-hero, and this unique spin is what makes Dwayne Johnson so good in this role. The action scenes are colossal and fast-paced, and it has the perfect amount of comedy to match what we usually expect from films of this genre. The soundtrack is also edgy and the editing is clever.

And of course, I have to mention the post-credit scene (without spoilers of course!). It was a very smart move from DC that shows they are listening to their fans and leaves the audience intrigued for what’s to come from not only this character but the wider universe…
