Introducing Caitlin, one of the many faces of Val…

Alright, spill the tea: How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at Val Morgan Cinema so far?

I graduated from university in 2021 with a degree in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations, eager to leave my retail job. I landed my first role in the industry as a Sales Coordinator for Val Morgan and haven’t looked back since! There have been way too many good memories to count, but going to the Australian International Movie Convention on the Gold Coast last year is definitely up there.

If your career were a movie, which three movie titles would best capture its essence, and why did you choose them?

  1. The Devil Wears Prada – Whilst it may not have been as intense or glamorous as the film depicts, I started my career in fashion retail and stayed in that industry for six years through high school and university. Much like Andrea, I knew it was time to finally move on.

  2. Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium – I had no idea how exciting and how much fun the media industry was before I joined over two years ago, absolutely everything about it blew my mind. I still remember the first time I was gifted a bag of Maltesers—it felt like the most unreal job ever.

  3. The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants - I've been lucky enough to meet some of my best friends working at Val Morgan, both colleagues and clients.

Your ideal work lunch: cooking up a five-course meal in the office microwave or embarking on a quest to find the best sanga in town?

As much as my heart would love sushi or a table full of tapas every single day, to keep my bank account happy I tend to settle on the reliable tuna, rice and avocado combination. A bit boring but gets the job done.

If your professional growth had a fragrance, would it be a bold, invigorating scent like fresh coffee beans, a calming aroma like lavender, or something completely unexpected? Justify your choice.

It would definitely be fresh coffee beans! I think still being relatively new to the industry gives me a fresh perspective on client solutions. Plus, an iced almond latte gets me through most days.

If you could have the quirkiest, most unexpected line in your email signature, what would it say?

‘The campaign you wanted, and the movie review you didn’t know you needed’ – I love giving my thoughts on the latest cinema releases.

Summarise your typical workday using three emojis, and give us the inside scoop on what each one represents.

💪🏻 – I love starting my day at the gym, it puts me in the best mindset for the rest of the day. It is definitely true what they say about the endorphins!

🧠 – The goal of my job is to always come up with the best solutions for our clients, which involves a lot of thinking! I especially love out of the box or bespoke campaigns that take even more brain power.

🥂 – My favourite way to end the day is a glass of wine (or two) with clients!
